Government Advocacy

CenterState CEO develops and executes a highly targeted policy and government advocacy effort that addresses issues of priority to businesses and members, at all levels of government. Our effort integrates government relations and economic development agendas to create a climate for business retention, expansion, and attraction.

Business Advocacy
CenterState CEO's proactive role in business advocacy focuses on legislative and policy areas that support its members as well as its economic development strategy and programmatic priorities.

Government Relations
CenterState CEO’s government relations efforts support initiatives and policies critical to enhancing the region’s business climate, through:

  • A full-time lobbyist on staff, who works directly with legislators and members of the executive branch; advocates on behalf of members by generating calls, lobbying letters, and testimony; and serving as a resource for print and broadcast media, speaking events, and securing meetings with government representatives.
  • An annual Lobbying Directory, available to its members and widely used by community leaders, provides a comprehensive listing of federal, state, county, and local officials, and their staff members.
  • An annual Legislative Agenda presented to the region's federal, state, and local representatives outlining the economic development policy and legislative priorities for CenterState CEO and its members.
  • A Government Relations Committee, which helps to formulate positions, sponsor events, and meets regularly with elected officials and policy leaders to examine business-related issues.
  • Partnerships with other influential business organizations, including the Business Council of New York State, the American Council of Chamber Executives and the Chamber Alliance of New York State, giving the region a larger voice in Albany and Washington.
  • A non-partisan Political Action Committee, Syracuse Tomorrow, to advocate on behalf of key business and economic issues.
